President (as of the upload date of this page) Andy Heins of the National Waco Club sent the images at right. WACO INF NC625Y

Waco INF NC625Y (S/N 3363) was logged four times in the Register of the Grand Central Air Terminal (GCAT). All landings were on May 28, 1931 and they were spread across the afternoon as takeoffs, short flights and landings. The airplane was about five weeks old at the time, and these flights could easily have been demonstration flights for people interested in getting the feel of this new airplane. Below, courtesy of Andy Heins (left sidebar) is a photograph of NC625Y behind Les Bowman, Martie Bowman and C.C. Ludlow.

Les Bowman and Martie Bowman were pilots for Waco. I found a couple of references that suggested Ludlow was a special distributor for Brownback Motor Laboratories, Inc. aircraft engines. Knickers and spats were in style. The same photograph is posted on Martie's Web page.

Below are the Manufacturing Specifications at the time of manufacture, April 15, 1931. Other than the engine and propeller brands there is little other useful information.

Below is the record of chain of custody for the airplane, ca. 1931 to 1946. Besides Roy Minor, Ralph Canning of Canning and Nicholson, and S.J. Coughran were Register pilots as well as owners of NC625Y.

Note that mail was returned to the Civil Aeronautics Authority as of March 25, 1946. NC625Y still has a presence in the FAA database online. It is classified as a deregistered aircraft, having been deregistered February 19, 1941. According to the record, it was last owned by a gentleman in Reno, NV. The FAA record conflicts with the information above, which suggests it ws registered with Frank T. Olson of Ogden, UT as late as February 27, 1943. If you have information about the airplane, please let me KNOW.
